Kristaps Porzingis Accused Of Rape By Woman In New York

When asked if the Knicks were made aware of the incident, a team spokesperson said, "This is Kristaps' personal matter and not related to the Knicks".

The Knicks informed Dallas of the pending Porzingis rape allegations on a January 31 trade call with National Basketball Association headquarters that finalized the blockbuster deal, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The woman claims the assault happened on February 7, 2018, hours after Porzingis tore the ACL in his left knee.

A high-ranking source with the NYPD told the Post that the woman in her 20s is considered credible.

Porzingis' representatives also haven't made any comment thus far due not being aware of what's in the police report on the allegations against the player.

New York Police Department officials declined to comment. She accuses Porzingis of holding her down and raping her, according to a Post source, after she accepted his invitation to his apartment in the Sky building in Midtown West after 2 a.m. Mavs owner Mark Cuban told the Post in an email that the club was aware of the accusation. The woman said she remained quiet for so long because Porzingis offered monetary compensation of $68,000 for her brother's college tuition.

The woman - who is in her 20s and also lived in the building - told cops the National Basketball Association star visited her apartment at around 2 a.m., and that she accepted his invitation to go back to his posh pad.

The case is now being handled by the NYPD Special Victims unit. He said they alerted federal law enforcement in December to the accuser's "extortionate demands".

It was unclear if any money ever changed hands between the two, the New York Post reported.

Porzingis was traded to the Mavericks earlier this year, but he has yet to play for them, as he still is recovering from his injury.
