Agent frenzy: DE Smith, S Amos, OL Turner to sign with Packers

A starter of 56 games at safety for the Bears over the last four seasons, Adrian Amos is now heading north to sign with the Packers, according to multiple reports. He came on in a big way with the Ravens this past year when he racked up 8.5 sacks and 26 quarterback hits.

Smith struggled a bit last season, accruing only four sacks on the season. The Baltimore, Maryland native played college football at Penn State University before being drafted as the 142nd pick in the 5th round of the 2015 draft. Smith, who had four sacks last season with the Washington Redskins, tweeted "Blessed beyond measures" with cheese emojis and the hashtag #GoPackGo after agreeing to his deal.

The #Packers aren't done: They are also signing #Bears S Adrian Amos, sources say.

This past season was Amos' best in the pros, as he secured a pair of interception and made a career-high 73 tackles for the Bears while starting in 16 games.

Green Bay ranked 18th in total defense and 22nd in points allowed a year ago. Two pass rushers, a safety, and an offensive lineman are going to give the Packers tremendous flexibility on draft night, in which they have two first-round picks.

New head coach Matt LaFleur and returning defensive coordinator Mike Pettine have a solid player that could be on the verge of putting up big numbers this fall. That almost matches his production from the previous three years combined - 10 sacks and 74 combined tackles from 2015-2017. The quarterback had led the Packers to the postseason each year from 2009-2016.

It appears they were the other team Smith was considering before he signed with the Green Bay Packers, per Josina Anderson of ESPN.
