Xiaomi just unveiled an incredibly cheap 5G smartphone at MWC 2019

Xiaomi is at MWC this year and it has brought along a number of new devices. Apart from having a 5G modem, the updated Mi MIX 3 also receives a number of hardware upgrades.

It is unlikely that these smartphones will come to the Indian market, considering most Mi flagship devices have stayed away, except for the Mi 4 and Mi 5.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 ships with a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with full-HD+ resolution.

Xiaomi Mi MIX3 5G is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 processor paired with X50 modem. Keep in mind that Xiaomi earlier introduced a 10GB RAM variant for the Mi MIX 3, so it is highly likely that the 5G version will get the same treatment in the near future. According to Xiaomi, this allows you to download a 15-minute 1080p video in just one second. The smartphone features a slider mechanism similar to Honor Magic 2 and hides its dual 24-megapixel selfie shooters there. In terms of storage, Mi MIX 3 comes in four variants of 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB and 10GB+256GB.

On the software front, it runs MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. Also, it sports the Snapdragon X50 independent baseband that makes the phone support 5G connectivity. The phone has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and a USB-C port. According to Xiaomi, this solution can disperse heat 3 times faster than a typical dual graphite sheet. This may seem too high if taking into account the price policy Xiaomi has been always running, but the company also said the cost of 5G chips and components is still very high. Among them is the Mi 9, getting its global launch party.

It's available in Piano Black, Ocean Blue, and Lavender Violet, though we were told that in the United Kingdom only the black and blue versions would be available at launch.

Pre-orders for the Mi 9 in Spain have already been started through Authorised Mi Stores, Mi.com, Cdiscount, Darty, and Fnac.
