Solskjaer: When Sanchez finally scores, the goals will keep on flowing

According to The Mirror, the pair were originally a doubt for the game, having picked up injuries in the Champions League defeat to PSG.

However, he has struggled badly since Manchester United made him the Premier League's highest paid player just over a year ago, scoring just four times for the Red Devils, and generally the 30-year-old has looked a shadow of the player he once was.

"He [Solskjaer] hasn't spoken to me a great deal about what I have to do on the pitch, but I think I'm an experienced player and I think I know what I need to do and what I shouldn't do".

Manchester United fans want Alexis Sanchez and Juan Mata replaced by Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong for the clash against Chelsea.

Sanchez was lured from Premier League rivals Arsenal to United by Mourinho in January last year, however, the 30-year-old forward fell out of favour prior to the Portuguese's departure.

"The referee's assistant, when we had a counter-attack, came flying down the line, and I had my foot there and he crashed into me". He added: "We beat Arsenal in the last cup round without Anthony and without (Marcus) Rashford, now it's without Anthony and Jesse".
