Mild Sunday before Monday morning snow

As mentioned, a coating to a few inches of snow is most likely, with the highest amounts in our colder western areas, where temperatures will drop below freezing fastest.

Another round of light snow will be possible tomorrow morning, mainly north of Highway 29. This may help mitigate some of the snow accumulations initially before the cold breaks through. A storm system responsible for yesterday's slick conditions is pulling a mass of Arctic air into the state and dangerously cold wind chills are expected to develop tonight.

The first half of this weekend has shaped up pretty nicely with temperatures managing to make up into the mid 30s!

The snow will fall for roughly 7 to 9 hours over the Valley.

Temperatures will tumble through the teens during Thursday afternoon with overnight low temperatures in the teens below zero by Friday morning.

AMOUNTS: Unlike most previous snow events so far this winter, this will be a very light, powdery snow with such cold air in place.

"Strong and gusty west northwest winds will deliver wind chills in the single digits to below zero for much of the area late Wednesday and Wednesday night", meteorologists said in the forecast discussion.

While the day began with a temperature of - 4 C, Environment Canada says that it will get progressively colder throughout the day. But in most cases, when the cold air has to catch up to the rain, we normally don't see much snow in the Piedmont.
