Giuliani: Trump legal team reached out to Mueller after BuzzFeed report

Giuliani, President Trump's personal attorney, said Monday that comments he had made to the New York Times the day before about Trump Tower Moscow were "hypothetical". In multiple television interviews, Giuliani appeared to confess that Trump had told him efforts to launch the Moscow project continued beyond June 2016.

"The president couldn't tell you the exact day it started and the exact day it ended; he remembers it started and he remembers it ended", Giuliani said, but nothing more. "My comments did not represent the actual timing or circumstances of any such discussions".

The project and the length of discussions around have been subject to a changing narrative and is a key part of the legal saga facing Cohen, Trump's former attorney.

President Donald Trump's discussions to build a skyscraper in Moscow extended until after he won the presidency, his lawyer Rudolph Giuliani said on Sunday. "They alleged there were texts and e-mails that corroborated that Cohen was saying the President told him to lie".

An investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion between Moscow and Trump's campaign has loomed large over the Trump presidency amid media reports of his team's connections with Russian Federation.

Fox News media analyst Howard Kurtz said a bombshell, disputed BuzzFeed News report about President Trump is a "black eye" for the news outlet and the media in general.

Giuliani suggested last month that Trump had spoken with Cohen past January 2016, and indicated that conversations occurred later than previously known.

In an interview with the New Yorker, Giuliani was asked why he concluded the report was false.

"I just told you he didn't do it. What I was talking about was, if he had those conversations, they would not be criminal". The whole thing is problematic for them, though, and maybe Giuliani doesn't understand this, that it's all one big conspiracy.... They'd finally got it straightened out. He said in February 2017: "I have nothing to do with Russian Federation". The letter of intent was also quite detailed.

Although Giuliani downplayed the project, there were discussions with others about it and also a discussion with Trump about going to Moscow after the Republican National Convention to help push the deal.
