Jayme Closs kidnapping suspect Jake Thomas Patterson concealed his identity, police say

Lacey Naiberg posted on Facebook after the Barron County sheriff reported that Jayme Closs had been found. Jayme went missing in October after her parents were killed at the family home in northern Wisconsin.

Jayme spent Thursday night in an area hospital for observation, according to the sheriff in Douglas County, where the girl was found.

Jayme Closs escaped from the home where she was being held and approached a woman walking her dog for help Thursday night, according to CNN. The woman brought Closs to a nearby home, where the couple called 911. "[Patterson] planned his actions and took many proactive steps to hide his identity from law enforcement and the general public".

Jayme's story was helped by The Voice contestant Chris Kroeze, who dedicated his performances to her on his run to the finale of the singing competition.

Fuhrman said that while Patterson has no criminal record, he believes he has committed other crimes or has a mental defect.

Since Jayme's disappearance almost three months ago, scores of people in Wisconsin and Minnesota helped authorities look for her. Police discovered someone had broken into her family's home in Barron, killed her parents and apparently abducted her.

Douglas County is just north of Barron County, where Closs lived. Kasinskas says she recognized the name but didn't know the person. "I'm praying for Jayme and all her family that they can have a joyous reunion and as the rest of the country celebrates alongside this happy occasion we all are mindful to give the family their space and privacy on their road to finding a new sense of normal and moving forward".

She asked Closs if she knew where Gordon, Wisconsin was.

CBS Minnesota spoke with Jayme's aunt Sue on Thursday evening who said her niece was now at the hospital.

A press conference will be held Friday at 10 a.m. "I've been in the dumpster for three months". I can't wait to get my arms around her.

Closs was located approximately 70 miles from her home.

Patterson, the suspect, is being held in the Barron County jail on suspicion of kidnapping and homicide in the murder of Jayme's parents.

Jayme Closs, 13, was missing after her parents were found dead in their home in Barron, Wisconsin, on October 15, 2018.

Some tips led officials to recruit 2,000 volunteers for a massive ground search on October 23. Investigators said they believed Jayme was at home during the shooting. She was rescued nine months later.

"It's awesome the will of that 13 year old girl to survive and escape - it comes from the hope and the prayers and this community", Fitzgerald said.

Peter Kaskinskas, who tried to make Jayme feel comfortable in the 20 minutes she was in their home, said she declined food and water and appeared "pretty flat" emotionally. "I just can't wait".
