White Sox reportedly to sign D-backs free agent outfielder Jon Jay

The New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago White Sox have reportedly all extended offers to the 26-year-old.

The Phillies and White Sox are both also interested in Harper while the Dodgers could be another possible landing spot, according to the report.

In what seems like a make-or-break meeting, the team will reportedly fly a handful of executives to Sin City on Saturday - including owner John Middleton - to meet with Harper and his agent, Scott Boras.

Manny Machado is getting closer to deciding which team he will sign for.

According to Bruce Levine of 670 The Score in Chicago, the free agent stud infielder will be deciding on a team within a week.

Sign Bryce Harper, and the Nationals easily could surpass the luxury-tax threshold for the third straight season. However, while many rumors have floated around that Manny's wife is "enamored" with NYC, there is no indication that the Yankees have even offered Machado a deal... yet.

While a decision may be coming soon, it's still unclear who has the lead in the bidding.

It was reported back in the fall that Washington offered Harper a 10-year, $300 million contract before he hit free agency, but he elected to hit the open market. Levine got a little more specific in his latest report, saying "the White Sox will be in on Machado in the $200-million range for six or seven years", which isn't too far off that dot-connecting guesstimate.
