Earlier this week, Foxx said her office had been inundated with calls about abuse allegations in Lifetime's "Surviving R. Kelly" documentary series.

"We hope that it will turn into a fruitful investigation and it will result in the return of Joycelyn Savage to her family or, at the very least, that she start opening continuous conversations and interactions with her family like she had before she met Mr. Robert Sylvester Kelly", Griggs told PEOPLE on Wednesday. She said anyone who thinks they may have been a victim to call the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Division at 773-674-6492.

Kelly's Chicago-based lawyer, Steve Greenberg, dismissed the claims raised in the series in an interview with Billboard, casting them as "another round of stories" used to "fill reality TV time".

Kelly, meanwhile, is now being investigated by the Fulton County District Attorney's Office and the State Attorney in Chicago has made a plea for any witnesses or victims to come forward following the airing of the "Surviving R.Kelly" on Lifetime. Kelly has denied the allegations and reportedly threatened to sue Lifetime before the series went to air.

"In order to have an investigation. we have to have victims and witnesses who are willing to come forth with whatever information that they have", said Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx. New reports claim local police hit up a nightclub in response to a call about a warrant for his arrest.

She added that her office is talking to two families whose loved ones had been in contact with Kelly.

Her father says they haven't heard from her in about two years. Apparently, the person likely responsible for administering the threat is a known business of R. Kelly named Donnel Russell. "I'm gonna do harm to you and your family, when I see you I'm gonna get you, I'm going to f***ing kill you", Timothy revealed what James Mason told him.

"No one has ever seen any evidence of it", he said. In 2002, he was arrested after a video surfaced appearing to show him having sex with and urinating on a 14-year-old girl.

The singer has long since dodged conviction, getting acquited of charges of child pornography back in 2008.

Kelly rose from poverty on Chicago's South Side to become a star singer, songwriter and producer.
