Bollywood actor Kader Khan dies

On Friday (December 28), Khan's co-star of several films and veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to pray for the former's speedy recovery.

Amitabh Bachchan described the news of Khan's death as "depressing", adding that he was a "writer of eminence in most of my very successful films". Apart from giving some of the most memorable amusing characters in Hindi films, Khan had also been praised for his negative roles in films like Do Aur Do Paanch (1980) among others.

During his career, Khan was known in Bollywood for remarkably playing comic roles.

Amitabh Bachchan Tuesday paid homage to the veteran actor-writer who collaborated with him frequently. He has performed in more than 300 films. As the storylines got thinner, the Kader Khan-Shakti Kapoor combo skewed slapstick and then absurd.

Among Khan's frequent collaborators as a screenwriter were Manmohan Desai and Prakash Mehra. His films with Desai include Dharam Veer, Ganga Jamuna Saraswati, Coolie, Desh Premee, Suhaag, Parvarish and Amar Akbar Anthony and films with Mehra include Jwalamukhi, Sharaabi, Lawaaris, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. "Had the privilege to work with him as a writer in "Aankhen", "Raja Babu", "Shola Aur Shabnam", "Bol Radha Bol", "Mujhse Shaadi Karogi" and direct him in my debut film "Hulchul". The two had worked together in films like "ChaalBaaz", "Meherbaan" and "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan".

Khan was seeking treatment at a hospital in Canada for a condition called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a degenerative disease that causes loss of balance, difficulty in walking and dementia.

Kader's son, Sarfaraz Khan, had dismissed the reports of his father's death a day earlier, however, he confirmed the tragic news today while speaking to Press Trust of India (PTI).
