Kate The Duchess of Cambridge meets children at Kensington Palace in London, where she is hosting a Christmas party for families and children of serving Air Force personnel.

Kate told her guests: "William and I just wanted to pass on our huge gratitude to all of you here today".

She said: "When Prince William was away in the Falkland Islands he went for dinner with some good friends of ours in the Air Force and he was saying how hard it was for Kate because he was leaving for six weeks".

The previous day, they had hosted a party at Kensington Palace for the partners, children and parents of those from RAF Coningsby and RAF Marham, who will be spending Christmas away from home.

The young and stylish royals met with men and women who have been separated from their loved ones over the festive season.

The royal couple appeared to be in the best possible mood, sizzling as they talked to the military base staff and delivered presents to them from their families back at home, whom they won't reunite with for Christmas.

The British military base in Cyprus is now used for both reconnaissance and bombing missions against ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

On the same outing, Prince William shared a tidbit on their 5-year-old son Prince George. Five-year-old Harry is being looked after for six months by his grandparents.

Her husband said: "We see our main function as giving my daughter and her husband peace of mind".

William and Kate will bring presents and messages to the troops in Cyprus from the families they met in the UK.
