Kareem Hunt admits to lying to Chiefs about hotel assault

Hunt said that league officials never interviewed him about the incident but he acknowledged that he lied to the Kansas City Chiefs about his involvement.

Hunt was released by the Chiefs on Friday after the team learned about the video dating back to a February altercation with a woman in a Cleveland hotel. "I've reached out to him, hoping that he gets the help that he needs and that he can grow as a man, and really, the focus is on Kareem as a person, not the football player right now".

"I really wish that I could just apologize to them, and let them know there (are) no hard feelings between me and the Chiefs, and I love the program, love the people there, and I just want to take this time and better myself and not let anything like this happen ever again". "I could have taken responsibility and made the right decision to find a way to de-escalate the whole situation", Hunt said.

"I saw the stuff that happened", Mahomes said after the game, via ESPN's Adam Teicher.

After the video was released, the Chiefs made a decision to release Hunt, citing the fact he wasn't completely honest with them.

"(There were) definitely some things that were said and did that I did not like, and that's not an excuse.

According to TMZ, the woman that Hunt slammed down and kicked was initially ready to press charges against the ex-NFLer, but she's since gone ghost. "The video shows it".

When the incident first occurred, several members of the Chief's management team interviewed Hunt about the allegations. "I don't blame them for anything". I felt like I let the Chiefs down, my family down, those players down. Hunt and his friends claim that she started yelling racial slurs at them after they asked her to leave when they found out she was under 21 and had been drinking.

The team said "The video today confirms that fact. And I know that's where I masked a lot of my problems".

Hunt said he had never met the woman in the video until the night in question, had no relationship with her and has had no subsequent contact with her.

"Consistent with investigatory practices, the National Football League continues to pursue a complete understanding of the facts", it said, adding that the investigation will include "further conversations with all parties involved in the incident". Later that day, they released Hunt, the NFL's leading rusher last season as a rookie.
