The World Cup finalists go into their final group stage match of the Nations League with everything to play for.

It has now taken its toll on the right midfielder during Croatia's win over Spain in the UEFA Nations League on Thursday evening in Zagreb.

The former Sevilla player made way for Nikola Vlasic on the 67th minute after seemingly pointing to his hamstring, an injury to which could lead to a lengthy lay off for Ivan Rakitic and pose as a threat to Barcelona.

Spain still top Group 4 with six points after four games but to reach the final round they need England to draw with Croatia in the group finale on Sunday.

"We will find a solution and we are going to Wembley to enjoy football".

"The most important thing for us was not to let them play out [from defence] comfortably", he added. At Barca there are plays that are rehearsed and trained and I could see that England also had those plays very well-worked.

"That performance did not come from a couple of weeks before the game, it goes back to the World Cup".
