It will be a cold day with temperatures running 15-20° below average (seasonal average: 54°), as sunshine works in by the afternoon. Highs on Tuesday will be in the lower-50s.

On Thursday it will be mostly dry but cloudy with sunny spells as temperatures head towards 63F (17C).

Mostly cloudy Friday with a slight chance for spotty pockets of rain or snow.

A spokesperson for The Weather Channel said: "Through the beginning of next week, high pressure will become centred over southern Scandinavia driving a colder easterly flow across the British Isles".

TODAY: Bitterly cold. Breezy with a few clouds in the morning, then sunny and cold.

A temperature of 65F (17C) by Thursday would beat the 61F (16C) expected in Madrid - while daytime highs of 46F (8C) expected in London next Monday would be below the 48F (9C) forecast for Vancouver in Canada. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 9 miles per hour after midnight. Behind this front on Tuesday, more lake effect snow is likely with the best chance of significant accumulation west of US-131.

"Near 1" of snow is likely area-wide. Winds could gust as high as 29 miles per hour.

It will be chilly on Monday with highs only in the mid-to-upper-40s.

We'll keep an eye on this event, as this particular model may be going a little on the low side with forecast amounts. Friday night, lows will drop down into the middle and upper 30's.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 53.
