Gillum, DeSantis Face Off In Final Televised Debate Tonight On CBS

DeSantis is up with white voters 54 percent to 44 percent but Gillum takes 99 percent of black votes with only 1 percent of them for the Republican.

Republican Ashley Moody and Democrat Sean Shaw answered questions on topics ranging from affordable healthcare to Florida's "stand your ground law".

As of Wednesday, the mayor was polling almost 6 percentage points ahead of DeSantis, who exposed himself during the first debate Sunday as being more anxious about attacking Gillum than with policy. The statement made no mention of Mike Miller. DeSantis said, before pivoting to an attack on the press, declaring, "I am not going to bow down to the altar of media correctness".

As the candidates get ready for that debate, Spectrum News' exclusive Governor's Poll shows a growing lead for Democrat Gillum. He has denied the remark was a reference to Gillum's race.

"Congressman, you have your time", Gillum responded.

Text messages between Gillum and former lobbyist Adam Corey, who arranged outings with undercover agents looking into city government corruption, were among more than 100 pages of records Corey gave the ethics commission, which is investigating trips to Costa Rica and NY that Gillum took in 2016... "It crystalized for me what is a very clear and present danger". The group has been linked to racist robocalls in Virginia, Oregon, California, Idaho, Iowa and Pennsylvania. Gillum attended the show while on a trip to New York City. Gillum also leads with Hispanics 59 percent to 36 percent.

As for his own dealings, Gillum said he understood that his brother gave Corey and Miller tickets to see Jay-Z and Beyonce, which he believed "solved whatever the issue was with regard to the expenses associated with it". "My wife and I take vacations and we pay for our own vacations ..."

Speaking to a crowd of college students at historically black Florida Memorial University Thursday afternoon, Gillum asked a half-full auditorium if they'd seen Wednesday night's debate at Broward College.

Gillum was quick to point out DeSantis' apparent tactics. "He wants you to believe that he is not under investigation". He said he supported Trump's transfer of the US embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv and called attending May's opening ceremony "awesome". "Andrew supports a single-payer plan which will force people off Medicare, force people off their employer plans and put them on a government-run single-payer plan that is wrong".

"I met him for the first time the other night and then all of a sudden, without invitation, he was calling me only as Andrew".

Yet text messages included in the records obtained by the Tampa Bay Times call that claim into question. "But now we know that".

Undercover FBI agents were the ones who gave Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum a ticket to the Broadway show "Hamilton" during a trip to New York City in 2016, according to a trove of records given to the ethics commission and released to the public Tuesday.

"Mike Miller and the crew have tickets for us for Hamilton tonight at 8 p.m.", Corey texted Gillum on August 10, 2016, referring to one of the two undercover Federal Bureau of Investigation agents who attended the trip to NY while posing as land developers with business before the city.

In an appearance Tuesday evening on MSNBC, Gillum seized on DeSantis' previous warning to voters not to "monkey this up" by electing him - a phrase that, Gillum maintained, is "not commonly used, as far as I know".
