A lottery ticket holder in SC has scooped the largest jackpot in USA history.

This week's winning numbers were 5, 28, 62, 65, 70 and Mega Ball 5.

No ticket matched all six numbers for the prize Wednesday night, making the jackpot now the third largest in USA history and second largest in Powerball history.

His niece Bobbie Mickle told NBC10: 'He told them he was on his way to buy a lottery ticket and he was disappointed that he didn't get it.

Other states that also support incognito winners: Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and Texas.

Tickets for the Mega Millions draw are sold in 44 US states, the District of Columbia and the US Virgin Islands and there had not been a top prize victor since July. Most winners take the cash option, which would be $354.3 million.

"It wasn't me", Haynes said over the phone, adding he matched only one number. Despite the tough odds, they're actually a little better than the odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot.

"This could be a good and bad thing", she said.

The jackpot may be claimed as $1 billion before federal taxes as an annuity paid out over 29 years, or as a cash option of $565 million, according to lottery officials. Winners have up to 180 days to come forward to claim their money.

Presta went on to thank Kansas Lottery players for their great enthusiasm in last night's drawing and reminded players to check their tickets. The game is played in 44 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The jackpot for the in-state Megabucks Doubler is at $3.7 million for Wednesday's drawing, officials said. That's okay. There's always the Powerball, scheduled to be drawn Wednesday night.

Don't worry, there's a chance to strike it very rich - again - when the $750 million Powerball drawing is held Saturday. "Now I know y'all have it!"
