The Minnesota Timberwolves continue to seek a trade return for Jimmy Butler beyond what any team is willing to offer.

Thibodeau said Monday the Timberwolves will not make a "bad deal", but ESPN reported last week Taylor had intervened and is directing all National Basketball Association teams to reach out directly to ownership if interested in Butler.

That has meant he's asking for quality veterans along with top prospects, draft picks and/or cap relief, according to several reports.

On Friday, Timberwolves guard/forward Jimmy Butler requested a trade out of Minnesota.

Butler is set to earn just over $19 million next season. There are going to be hurt feelings and the Wolves will try to trade to other teams before the Rockets.

Jimmy Butler #23 of the Minnesota Timberwolves looks on during the game LA Clippers on December 3, 2017 at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Based on the situation in Minnesota now and an incident involving Dwyane Wade and Butler gossiping to the media and creating a rift among their teammates in his past year on the Chicago Bulls, it's clear that Butler is not going to be a 100% team guy. They are likely going to wait for the best deal possible before they pull the trigger on a trade.

Jimmy Butler declined an invitation to reconsider his trade demand and opted to reiterate his position to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Just like that, the Tom Thibodeau/Jimmy Butler marriage is over... and the Atlanta Hawks could reap the benefits if the cards fall their way. That can all change with one phone call, but the Timberwolves are moving forward as if there will be no deal before the start of the season. That remains to be seen since there hasn't been much in the news about Butler's interest in Houston.

As Marc Stein of the New York Times reported today, the Heat have become Butler's ideal destination. He was awfully close a year ago, and was perhaps one Chris Paul hamstring injury away from accomplishing that goal.
