The feature was introduced by HTC as an Edge Sense to enable different operations by squeezing the sides of the smartphone. For some time, we have known that both these devices are going to come with this little addition. Or at least it seems that way as we ramp on up to the event at which the device is set to be revealed by Google on October 9th, 2018.

Google has already begun sending emails to Pixel 2 series owners in select global regions that Pixel 3 will be available for pre-order on the launch date 9 October itself.

Google Assistant has also been teasing the upcoming event when asked about it. For the full details, we'll probably have to wait till next week to find out.

Google's post is an explicit reference to the recent flurry of rumours that suggest the leaked Pixel 3 XL prototypes that surfaced online this summer were deliberately created to throw people off the scent.

Although the Pixel 3 is not mentioned by name, the teaser prominently features the number 3, and the tech giant has also splashed a big 3 up on its website, leaving no-one in any doubt we will see it soon. The most expensive of the three will be the Pixel 3 XL, followed by the slightly cheaper Pixel, and then comes the Pixel Mini or the Pixel 3 Mini. It appears to have a 2,160 x 1,080 resolution, dual front cameras and just one on the rear. Funnily enough, the page title still mentions a free Google Home Mini promo with the purchase of a Pixel 2, but we suspect that'll be a pretty hard promo to take advantage of.

Sadly, the 3.5mm audio jack will not be making its return in the Pixel 3 series.
