Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) reacted to the surprise call by Arizona Sen.

Mr Graham said that Democrats sat on allegations against Mr Kavanaugh and then sprung them on the nominee at the last minute in a desperate attempt to prevent his confirmation.

"This is the most unethical sham since I've been in politics", the Republican continued.

He added, "Boy, you all want power".

"God help anybody else that gets nominated", Graham said. "I hope the American people can see through this sham, that you new about it and you held it".

The Intercept's Ryan Grimm, whose publication was first to receive Ford's letter describing her allegation in detail, has denied that either Feinstein or her staff was his source. It contains mildly objectionable language.

Graham's rebuttal came after Kavanaugh refused to endorse halting the review of his nomination so the FBI can investigate the allegations made by Blasey Ford and two other women.

McCaskill joins several other red state Democrats who face tough reelection campaigns in the midst of the Kavanaugh circus.

"I was shocked and disgusted", Wagner opined, "by the way Judge Kavanaugh and his family had been treated". Some will react the way Donald Trump did, by saying what amounted to "You know what liars women are".

The commander in chief praised his Supreme Court pick, calling Kavanaugh "one of accomplished most legal minds of our time a juris with a sterling record of public service".

He also offered kind words to Kavanaugh.

Kavanaugh has strongly and categorically denied that he has ever committed sexual assault or sexual misconduct.

Gillibrand and other Democrats were outraged that Republicans did not force a high school friend of Kavanaugh and other witnesses to testify under oath.

But Graham limited his belief exclusively to Feinstein, saying that he "likes" and "respects" the 85-year-old ranking minority member of the committee, which referred Kavanaugh's nomination to the full Senate on Friday.

Dickerson asked Cotton why women who have been sexually abused would come forward with their stories if, like Dr. Ford, they are not believed by the Senate?
