Xherdan Shaqiri will start his first game in competitive action since signing for Liverpool in the summer and given his bright and energetic cameos so far this season, the Switzerland global should help his team to a seventh consecutive win.

"Joel Matip netted on his first start of the season in between those two goals, towering over the 6'7" Jannik Vestergaard to crash a header home.

Liverpool stretched their winning run to six this season with Tuesday's thrilling 3-2 Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain, which followed quickly after last weekend's impressive 2-1 win away to Tottenham in the Premier League.

Liverpool will be looking to maintain their flawless start to the new season when they welcome Southampton to Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

If one thing mattered nearly as much as the result it was for Salah to get off the mark and despite Klopp's defence of him ahead of the game, the German will have been undoubtedly delighted and somewhat relieved to see his star forward get on the scoresheet.

"It's not cool, but should not be too serious".

"No it was not easy, to be honest". It's my job to sometimes deliver news nobody wants to hear. I explained it to him so it's no problem. We didn't need them too much in the first few games.

"It's just good to have him".

Home midfielder James Maddison brushed the side-netting with a free kick soon after the break - but he was on target with his next dead ball attempt, bending the ball past Jonas Lossl to increase the pressure on the winless Terriers, and Vardy's superb dinked finish wrapped up the win. The Reds look like the Premier League favorite early on this campaign, and on Saturday they added to their hot start to the season.

In six Premier League matches, the team has allowed just two goals. They were really in the situation and in the different games, so that's good.

If Shaqiri does figure on Saturday afternoon, it would be at the expense of one his front three of Firmino, Sadio Mane and Salah.

Mohamed Salah is finally back in the goals for Liverpool.
