Among the expected devices is the new Amazon Echo Sub, which will apparently be a subwoofer featuring a 100-watt, downward-firing six-inch woofer, plus the ability to pair with other Echo devices for a stereo setup.

The whole range is due to be launched later today in Seattle, which sends alarm bells as to whether we'll see them in the United Kingdom in time for Santa as Amazon isn't all about worldwide simultaneous launches. "Now with Fire TV Recast, we've made it simpler to find, watch, and record live over-the-air TV at home and on your mobile devices". Yes, everyone's go-to appliance for reheating, defrosting, and other adventures is getting a 2018 update complete with Alexa voice support.

Dubbed Echo Input, the adapter comes with microphones on-board but lacks any speaker output.

And of course the company has been behind some of the most commercial audio products of recent years with its Echo smart speaker range.

"There are dual, side-firing 2-inch Neodymium drivers; a passive bass radiator; and Dolby processing to deliver expansive stereo sound with deep, powerful lows and crisp highs, ideal for listening to your favorite music", Amazon said. There's also Dolby processing, a larger (10in) display, Firefox and Amazon's Silk browser, and an eight-mic array - Amazon's most powerful mics yet. Amazon announced offline home control as well as a Whisper Mode for Alexa devices. It is available for pre-order from today and will ship next month.

Unlike the Dot this gadget doesn't feature an in-built speaker with users simply attaching this device to an existing speaker via Bluetooth or the 3.5mm headphone port.

The Amazon Basics microwave includes Alexa and a Dash button that can order more popcorn. Echo Link and Echo Link Amp can promise better sound, and are meant to replace existing receivers and amplifiers. Two things, really. First of all, Google Assistant is widely regarded as a smarter virtual assistant than Amazon's Alexa - although both are improving all the time.

The new speaker has 70 percent better sound, Amazon's senior vice president of Alexa devices, David Limp, said at a media event Thursday.

Obviously the whole point of a smart home ecosystem is that you're supposed to buy all the devices, creating an interconnected environment more intelligent than the sum of its parts.
