Google says Pixel smartwatch won’t be released this year

These photos suggest that the alleged Pixel 3 will come with a 5.5-inch display, but without the notch that is expected in the Pixel 3 XL.

Google is expected to announce the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL at an event in NY on October 9th, however no invites have been sent out for the event. The Pixel 3 XL smartphone is seen with a rear fingerprint sensor and a single camera setup.

As per the images shared, the phone seems to flaunt an 18:9 aspect ratio display panel, rather than the notched screen as seen on the Pixel 3XL. Those hoping for a high refresh rate display will need to wait until next year or look elsewhere since Google is sticking with a 60Hz panel. This is supported by the specification screenshots which list two 8MP cameras - one with a dual aperture of f/1.8 and f/2.2, and the other with f/1.8. Meanwhile, the battery has been upgraded to 2,915mAh compared to 2,700mAh in Pixel 2. We're seeing the familiar glass top part of the back, and yes, there is no notch on the front, but we already knew that. While at the front, the handset is supposed to sport a 8.1MP camera for selfies and video calling.

In addition to the 2 regular Pixels, there are reports that Google may also launch a relatively more affordable Pixel phone for markets like India. However, rumors that the extra camera is to allow for advanced facial recognition is yet to be confirmed. Google is set to announce the Pixel devices soon.

After Apple's iPhone event on September 12, the next flagship smartphone event to look forward to will be Google's. A Redditor (via 9to5mac) now claims to have his hands on Pixel 3. For now, there is no word about the India price of the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL but expect these phones to be pricey.

Google is expected to launch the Pixel 3 phones and other hardware on October 9th in NY, according to a recent leak.
