Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann Makes Big Decision On Future

Antoine Griezmann says he has made a decision on his future but refused to clarify where he will play next season when he spoke to reporters at France's World Cup camp in Russian Federation on Tuesday.

The capture of Lemar has been a priority for Atlético, who have been making moves in the market to attract world class players to the club, not least to persuade Antoine Griezmann to extend his stay in Madrid.

Griezmann is expected to announce his future before his nation's World Cup campaign begins against Australia on Saturday. But I'm not going to speak about it today.

Griezmann is contracted at Atletico - the club he joined in 2014 - until 2022, but Barcelona are reportedly prepared to trigger his €100million release clause.

Of course, if he was staying at Atleti, why wouldn't he just come out and say it now if he's already made his decision?

The 27-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to La Liga champions Barcelona, but he may yet remain at Atletico.

The winger will hope to feature for France at this summer's World Cup and build on his 12 caps and three goals for Les Bleus.

Barca's pursuit has angered Atletico, who in December reported them to Federation Internationale de Football Association for making an alleged illegal approach and followed up with a statement in May that said "enough is enough".

Atletico Madrid and Monaco have reached a "preliminary agreement" over the transfer of Thomas Lemar, the Spanish club have announced.
