Pokemon GO Kanto Week starts today, runs through April 16

Pokemon GO is about to get some impressive new updates. This information came from username Chrales, who is usually known for finding new materials for the Pokemon Go on Reddit. Although details were scant, many Pokemon GO players were delighted at the possibility of some sort of event that allows them to properly celebrate the likes of Pikachu, Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur and other characters from the Kanto region.

Details have been unearthed by fans about new plans for the game that are set to go live later this week, as well as a new post from Niantic explaining what we've got in store this week.

This is potentially in conjunction with a new Kanto region event for the game, which was also leaked, earlier today.

The official Pokemon GO Twitter account has confirmed (via Kotaku) that the augmented reality title will be getting its own Kanto themed event which kicks off tomorrow.

So Niantic now have the opportunity to release whichever of the original 151 Pokemon they think should have a Shiny moment this week. Also, a lot of players will mass transfer all the Legendary Pokemon after they use the x2 Candy reward, but this can be used in a better way. Other Gen I monsters, such as Aerodactyl and Snorlax, will also return to Raid Battles. Additionally, you can take to in-game shops to purchase special boxes of items with raid passes as well.

Equally, there's a slight change to bonuses and next month trainers will enjoy 3-hour lures as well as reduced egg hatch distances of 1/4.
