Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants beheaded a civilian in Bandipora's Hajin, the police said on Friday. Manzoor and his father were on Wednesday abducted by Lashkar militants.

The police is on the lookout for the terrorist and further investigations are being conducted in the case.

Parrey, a resident of Hajin, had joined the LeT ranks previous year. "I'm not surprised", he said. Families are being targeted by terrorists after being tagged as informers of the security forces in order to spread fear in the Valley and discourage them from alerting security forces of insurgency in the Valley. Two women were also assaulted by the militants.

It is a clear indication that LeT terrorists were trying to reactivate their bases and hideouts in the area and wanted to send across a tough signal to local residents against sharing information with the security forces to expose their locations.
