The new Tomb Raider takes viewers back to the childhood of Croft where she ventures to the last-known destination of her father who disappeared mysteriously. Bringing Tomb Raider to iOS and Android meant they recreated the game engine in OpenGL, added a few more modern effect like ambient occlusion and better shadowing.

Based on popular video game series, many Lara Croft fans are equally excited and disappointed. I just stood there watching some of these stunt women that we had who, of course, kind of made sure that we can run all those stunts over and over again. In Tomb Raider, Lara Croft finds herself in the spatial confines of Hong Kong and later on an island off its coast, believed to be the ancient country of Yamatai.

With all this mixing and matching, it might be hard to recognize a lot of the characters, but that won't mean that all (or any of them) are exactly "new".

"I grew up playing the game actually and saw Angelina Jolie up on the screen", she said. Not many are successful of that, because it either does one or the other.

Despite the torrent of criticism the YouTuber has received for his tweet, it still hasn't put him off continuing to comment on Alicia's casting as Lara, even photoshopping a pic of what he thought Alicia should look like. And because the old Tomb Raider games are often sold at a discount on Valve's platform for less than $2, players can get the remastered editions for quite cheap. "It was tough and a lot of work, but above anything it was also a lot of fun", she recalls. "That was something that I didn't do before I started this film". I guess there's a lot at stake for her because it's the first time she's done a big action movie that's all focused on her.

You've been shooting your hit TV show "Badlands" in Ireland - how has that been so far?

"In fact, I hope to make a whole career off it".
