Indian Mujahideen terrorist Arij Khan arrested by Delhi Police

Ariz Khan was arrested by the Delhi Police's Special Cell.

Khan belongs to the Uttar Pradesh, Azamgarh. "This is a big success", declared Pramod Singh Kushwah, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Special Cell, who oversaw the operation that led to Khan's arrest.

The expert bomb maker's involved is suspected in 2007 UP blasts, 2008 Jaipur serial blasts and 2008 Ahmedabad blasts.

He had been a wanted terrorist since 2008, when he had absconded after an encounter at the Batla House encounter had left two dead, and the other two fleeing the authorities. He was associated with Atif Amin who was killed in Batala House encounter. "He was ideologically much more radicalised than other members of the IM", police said.

A few days ago, a specific information was received that Khan will be coming to UP from Banbasa, Indo-Nepal border, to meet an associate, the officer said.

A month later they separated and Khan crossed over to Nepal.

Khan (32) had escaped from India to Nepal after the 2008 Batla House encounter and had settled in the Himalayan country. During his stay in Nepal, he initially ran a restaurant and later on started teaching in different schools, the officer said.

Khan was also a co-conspirator in the UP courts blasts matter where "he was enraged after some lawyers thrashed three terrorists of the Jaish-E-Mohammad".
