"Virginia's had an unbelievable year ... and they're an awesome 10-1 (away from home)", committee chairman and Creighton athletic director Bruce Rasmussen said on CBS.

The rankings could certainly change before the field of 68 is selected on March 11 with more than 1,000 games yet to be played. The Boilermakers were given the West's No. 1 seed. Duke, Texas Tech and Ohio State joined Villanova in the East, to be played in Boston. "They have a great strength of schedule and they're 10-1 from home". The South Regional semifinals and final are set for Atlanta, the city in which Virginia last won a regional championship to reach the Final Four, that in 1984. It will likely be ranked in the top three of the Associated Press poll on Monday.

The selection committee's full top 16 can be seen below. I wouldn't have felt great. Clemson was the No. 9 seed (No. 3 seed in Midwest Region) and North Carolina was the No. 12 seed (No. 3 seed in West Region).
