That would point to being back in the doghouse, if he ever left it, and Giants safety Landon Collins had harsh words regarding Apple during a Tuesday radio interview with Bob Wischusen on 98.7 FM ESPN Radio in NY.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but it might also cause cancer.

Apple played in 11 games this season with seven starts. It has been a hard second season in the National Football League for Apple, who was the Giants first-round pick a year ago. Brandon Dixon and Ross Cockrell each played all 68 defensive snaps at cornerback. Besides that, the other two guys, DRC (Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie) and Jackrabbit (Janoris Jenkins), I love those two guys.

Landon Collins (left) says he sat down with Eli Apple and Steve Spagnuolo on Wednesday to apologze.

While there was tension between Apple and former head coach Ben McAdoo, it appears that wasn't the entire problem with his time in NY. With just one final game to do, the Giants sit at 2-13 and find themselves on a five-game losing streak. But that first pick?

Not only is Apple's season over, it's quite possible his Giants career is now over. He's dealt with a hip injury and had a reported blow-up at coaches during a critical film session.

But when Apple was asked how Collins' reassurance had affected him, Apple said the safety hadn't done what he said.

"Look, we're all grown men in there", Collins said. After that meeting, Collins offered up a public apology.

The cover man is dealing with plenty of drama off the field, too, but National Football League teams are littered with players facing complex personal lives.

"Landon? No", Apple said.

It's been a bad one all around for the Giants, and the Apple situation has been the most glaring example of just how bad it's been during one of the worst seasons Big Blue has ever had.
