A Kentucky man was arrested after his two pit bulls killed a woman and injured her husband in his neighborhood on Christmas Eve.

Officials said that Bethany Stephens was killed by her two pit bulls while she was walking in Goochland County, Virginia, last week.

Lorraine Brock Saylor, 66, and her husband were attacked by two pit bulls Sunday morning, Bell County officials said.

As the attack unfolded on Sunday morning, Johnny's brother James Saylor, who lives next door, heard barking and quickly threw an object at the dogs to distract them long enough so he could get into the house.

One dog was fatally shot as it lunged at him.

Animal control and the Bell County Sheriff's Department are now searching for the brown Pit bull.

The sheriff's department said a caller had reported his brother and sister-in-law were attacked by two of their neighbour's dogs.

Authorities said 42-year-old Johnny Dale Lankford was already behind bars at the Bell County Detention Center for a different incident that saw him charged with Second Degree Assault, domestic violence and unlawful imprisonment on a $25,000 bond.

"Under no circumstances are you to engage this unsafe animal", they urged.

If you see a pit bull matching that description, in the Arjay or surrounding area, call Bell County dispatch immediately at 606-337-6174 or 911. As for the dogs, he said he had seen them before. They say the woman died from her injuries in the attack.

The victims' will be released after their family is notified, investigators said.

An autopsy for Saylor is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday in Frankfort, Ky. Her husband was hospitalized.
