Los Angeles police said Saturday they were called to inspect a "suspicious" package addressed to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.

The package was found outside of Mnuchin's next-door neighbor's house, police said.

Before being sworn in as part of the Trump Administration in February, Mnuchin worked as the finance chairman for Donald Trump's campaign for president.

R. Briggs described the contents of the package to be horse feces. Authorities said a gift-wrapped box of horse manure addressed to Mnuchin was found near his home in Los Angeles. Officials determined that it was not a threat.

The package also included a Christmas card with negative comments about President Donald Trump and the new US tax law signed by Trump last week.

The report of the suspicious package prompted lengthy street closures and a sizable response by local and federal authorities.

A news helicopter hovering above the home captured footage of police appearing to examine the unwrapped box. It is unclear if Mnuchin or his wife Louise Linton were home at the time of the incident.
