Taggart is trying to bring some lighthearted fun back to the Florida State football program, and the players are showing their appreciation for the change.

FSU (6-6) and Southern Miss 8-4 will kick off at 12:30 p.m. on December 27 on ESPN. Here's to saying the program will celebrate its second-ever postseason tilt by winning in its first-ever bowl game.

The Florida State Seminoles have surprisingly only lost one game so far during the 2017-18 season, as they recently fell to the Oklahoma State Cowboys by just one point.

Without the win, Florida States' record in games that went towards bowl eligibility would have dropped to 5-6. Delaware State's own data shows that was not the case, thus Florida State can't count their 77-6 win toward their six victories for bowl eligibility.

FCS schools are required to award at least 90 percent of the scholarships they are allowed to hand out. James also played in all 12 games and had 84 tackles. The Seminoles rescheduled the game, which had been postponed indefinitely due to Hurricane Irma, to give the players a chance to play their way into the postseason and continue the streak.

Given that we're less than a week away from the Independence Bowl between Florida State and Southern Miss, even Reddit acknowledges that nothing significant is likely to come of this report in terms of the Seminoles actually not playing in the game. While FBS teams are usually able to count one win against FCS competition towards bowl eligibility, the report reveals that Delaware State did not meet FCS scholarship requirements in order to be counted as a win towards bowl eligibility.

FSU is expected to use around 3,000 of its bowl allotment 6,000 tickets, according to school officials.

Three schools that were eligible to be selected to play in a bowl game will be watching from home while FSU plays in the Independence Bowl.

"I just wanted to make sure I get the right guys", Taggart said.

FSU wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator Lawrence Dawsey will not be retained by new head coach Willie Taggart.

But a Reddit user has taken a closer look at Florida State's bowl eligibility this year, and poked a big hole in it.
