Parents Upset Over Surprise Ivanka Trump School Visit In Norwalk

Ivanka Trump presumably realized just that after parents of students at Norwalk High School in CT pulled their kids from class after hearing the first daughter dropped by for a visit on Monday. IBM developed the academic model being used by the Norwalk Early College Academy.

Norwalk Federation of Teachers President Mary Yordon explained to the Daily Mail that teachers weren't privy to the visit, and when they arrived at school, they were shocked by the increased security.

"This should have been brought to our attention, although I do understand security reasons", a disgruntled parent told News 12 New Jersey.

Ivanka Trump's unannounced visit to a Norwalk, Connecticut, high school sparked backlash from some parents who said they were given little information about the trip.

Ivanka Trump made her way to New England this week, visiting an innovative high school in CT on Tuesday.

Some parents were able to pull their kids from class before the visit, according to the report.

But not all the parents of the Academy's students were pleased with the unscheduled visit.

Monica Mercuri, an alumni of the academy, also expressed her disapproval of Ivanka visiting her alma mater.

'To see the passion and enthusiasm for bringing real life skills into a classroom environment but then coupling it with real life experience through internship creates this really attractive virtuous angle, ' Trump said of the meeting. "Hope the diversity of our students and our large immigrant population doesn't scare her away".

The president's daughter praised the school and students.

Trump, however, posted pictures of her visit with a caption that read "It was an honor to meet so many bright and talented students!"
