Apple TV Finally Addresses Shortcoming, Adds Amazon Prime Video

Apple and Amazon had been at loggerheads on the issue of Amazon Prime TV support earlier in the year, with Amazon going so far as to pull the Apple TV from its USA storefront, citing potential customer confusion as the reason why.

The latest 4K HDR-enabled Apple TV is one of the best media streaming boxes around, but it's been lacking something important since the day it launched: Amazon Prime Video.

Amazon's own streaming device, Fire TV ($70), competes directly with the pricier Apple TV ($149).

The Prime app can now be downloaded from the tvOS App Store, enabling Prime subscribers to enjoy their favourite movies and TV shows. That makes Apple TV, along with Roku, one of the most flexible streaming devices, now that Google has said it will pull YouTube support from Amazon's Fire TV platform.

The deal with Apple comes amid friction between Amazon and Google. All you have to do is head over to the App Store on any Apple TV and then log in with your Amazon credentials.

After years of waiting, Prime Video is available now for free.

iPhone X users will be happy to know screen support is also available today as well. Some have already speculated that Amazon will start selling Apple TVs on its site again.

Apple and Amazon have officially launched Amazon Prime Video support for the Apple TV.

This is good news for Amazon and Apple customers who have had to forego a less than friendly relationship between the two companies. "And they're going to return it".

Presently, if a user tries to buy a film or TV show via Amazon's iOS app, he or she is directed to Amazon's website. Now that it has all changed today, let's see how things are going to pan out between Apple and Amazon.
