A team of Punjab Police also helped the local police in arresting those criminals.

A joint team of Delhi and Punjab Police on Tuesday arrested five members of Punjab's infamous Lawrence Bishnoi gang after a 30-minute gunbattle in south-west Delhi's Dwarka on Tuesday and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition.

13 firearms and around 100 cartridges have been recovered from the suspects, who the Punjab Police were already trailing for charges of attempt to murder, murder and carjacking. Several rounds were fired by both the parties.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), south-west district, Shibesh Singh said no one was injured in the firing. A team of Punjab police along was zeroing in on a gang of carjackers who mostly operate in Punjab and South Delhi.

Deepak climbed down the wall of the house using a curtain and escaped.

As per a police officer's statement in the report, the suspects were hiding on the 2nd floor of a building, and a property dealer had given them the flat on rent.

Locals were in a state of panic as they heard gunshots from the building. "Later, we learnt that police were trying to nab some criminals".
