It had been widely rumored that Narcos Season 4 will be set in Mexico, instead of the Colombian milieu that was featured in seasons 1 through 3, but this had not yet been confirmed by Netflix or the showrunners. It's also unclear if this sudden death will delay or halt production of the show.

El País reported that authorities found Muñoz's compact auto on a dirt road in San Bartolo Actopan in the muciplaity of Temascalapa in the State of Mexico. The site is located very close to the border with Hidalgo, which is notorious for drug-related homicides. Portal apparently was on the scouting trip by himself-and he was working in an area known for murders, according to El Pais.

He had worked in the entertainment industry as a locations manager for more than 10 years, including jobs on "Apocalypto" and "Specter", which filmed in Zocalo, Mexico.

"Given the depopulated area we have no witnesses", spokesman for the State Attorney's office Claudio Barrera said.
