Alexa now dominates the market in terms of available skills: As of June, Alexa had 15,069 skills, compared to Google Assistant's 378 and Cortana's 65.

Sonos joins an ever-increasing list of companies entering the smart speaker market now dominated by Amazon's Alexa-powered Echo that first launched in 2015.

On Wednesday, in the surprising turn, the companies released a joint statement announcing that you will now be able to issue commands like "Alexa, open Cortana", or "Cortana, open Alexa".

Using Alexa from Cortana will just require users to say "Hey Cortana, open Alexa".
