A mother of three from OR named Jenni Miller called out Linton in the comments section, telling her the post was "deplorable" and saying ironically, presumably on behalf of taxpayers: "Glad we could pay for your little getaway.' She received a long, angry rant from Linton in return, in which the actress accused Miller of being 'adorably out of touch".

But the couple is facing new questions about their Louisville jaunt after it was revealed that Mnuchin spent part of his time there viewing the solar eclipse.

Monday's post began with a glamorous photo of Linton stepping off an official government plane on a trip to Kentucky with her husband, who was there to discuss tax reform with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and visit Fort Knox.

A top watchdog group wants to know if the millionaire couple took the taxpayer-funded trip on Monday just to see the eclipse in a prime setting, the Washington Post reported. But Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), a political watchdog group, has another theory about Mnuchin's trip.

But Treasury officials said Thursday that the trip was planned explicitly around "official government travel", rejecting the idea that the Fort Knox visit and the appearance at a luncheon for the local chamber of commerce were mere cover. Adorable!. Have you given more to the economy than me and my husband?

'Either as an individual earner in taxes OR in self sacrifice to your country?' Maybe the topic had been a little dry, maybe Linton was bored, maybe she was still high on the honeymoon vibes, but why waste a good photo opp?

To make matters worse, she harshly responded to her critics in the comments, leading her to deleting the post and making her IG private.

When an OR woman criticized the trip, Linton fired back that she was "pretty sure the amount we sacrifice per year is a lot more than you'd be willing to sacrifice if the choice was yours". "Pretty sure the amount we sacrifice per year is a lot more than you'd be willing to sacrifice if the choice was yours". And yet the wealthy Linton defends her boasting and derides me, a hardworking, taxpaying American, in the process.

'The U.S. Department of the Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and I in front of the main door to the United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox before we viewed the #solareclipse today, ' McConnell wrote, in an image from Fort Knox, Kentucy.

The little-known actress later apologised through a publicist, saying "it was inappropriate and highly insensitive".

Also, Treasury said Mnuchin is reimbursing the government for his wife's travel, which is a long-standing policy when civilians travel on military aircraft.
