EA and DICE have released some new Star Wars Battlefront II gameplay, showcasing the game's frenetic Starfighter Assault mode across a variety of Star Wars eras. A gameplay demo for the mode is expected at Gamescom next week.

Space battles are such a pivotal part of the Star Wars mythos and so it's great to see heroes worked into the fold.

Resurgent Star Destroyer: The first Battlefront had a ham-handed way of featuring Star Destroyers in space battles.

If you want to see more from the starfighter assault portion of Star Wars Battlefront 2, there will be more revealed during Gamescom next week.

The new game mode basically results in a huge 24-player battle in space.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 launches in Australia on November 17 on PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC.

The new trailer is from the game engine and it shows a battle between the Rebels and the Empire.

Then we head into prequel territory with some ARC-170 fighters, the predecessors to X-wings, face some droid fighters and a Lucrehulk Battleship above Ryloth.

Recently, Electronic Arts executives also teased that the upcoming game is "coming together really, really strong," and they're not concerned by the competition coming from other big titles this fall season. Further, an open beta test is already penciled-in to take place from October 6 to 9 on all platforms.

The trailer below shows several different locations beginning with the Death Star debris above Endor.
