Two terrorists killed at LoC in Poonch, two soldiers martyred

Two jawans were martyred and one was injured when the notorious Border Action Team (BAT) of Pakistan carried out an attack 600 metres inside the Indian territory in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

The official said the Indian Army's "Area Domination Patrol" was targeted by the armed intruders and exchange of fire occurred. "While the firefight was going on, Pakistani posts engaged own posts by heavy firing".

In the firefight, two Indian soldiers were killed.

He identified the deceased soldiers as Naik Jadhav Sandip and Sepoy Mane Savan. Two Indian soldiers died during the initial exchange of fire.

Defence Ministry sources said that the Pakistanis resorted to "unprovoked firing and shelling at Indian positions in Chakan Da Bagh sector".

That attack too was carried out under the cover of shelling by the Pakistani troops. The Army said a BAT team comprising five to seven members were 600 metres within India, reported Hinudstan Times.

He said that the cross-border exchange of heavy firing is still underway in the sector.

Earlier, there have been several BAT attacks in which troopers have been beheaded or their bodies mutilated.

The operation is still going on, the officials added.

In January 2013, Lance Naik Hemraj was killed and his body mutilated by a BAT. The troops challenged them, triggering a gunbattle in which one militant was killed.

Indian Army killed terrorist Anwar Khan in August 2015 in Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir.
