Netflix Twitter account hacked by OurMine

Soon after, OurMine switched targets, and took over a series of Marvel accounts, including as well as accounts for Marvel Music and Marvel characters like Dr.

OurMine is essentially a self-proclaimed security group whose mission is to raise awareness about passwords and account security.

The hacked tweets on the Netflix and Marvel accounts were deleted later Wednesday.

One of the tweets contains OurMine's typical note about "testing your security", while others advertise its security services.

A group of Marvel and Netflix Twitter accounts were hacked Wednesday morning by OurMine, a hacker group that says it targets high-profile social media accounts to advertise its security services.

Accounts for Marvel Entertainment's main Twitter handle, as well as its Avengers, Black Panther, Captain America and Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor franchises fell victim. At the time, an alleged OurMine member told PCMag via email that the three-person team is "just trying to protect [companies'] servers".

Although the group denied allegations made in the article, calling the teen a fan of the hacking collective, the next day several Buzzfeed articles were hacked by OurMine in what many called a retaliation attack. "We are here to prove this".

Polygon has reached out to Netflix, Disney and OurMine for comment.

To protect against social media account hacks, experts recommend enabling two-factor authentication on sites like Twitter or Facebook. Trailers for "The OA", "Barry" and other Netflix originals are among the recent tweets.
